In the first picture is Maeve Wadge, a 25 year old Englishwoman who has worked to put together the Arthaa cooperative, together with her Indian colleagues.

She is Arthaa's chief designer, pattern maker and marketer all rolled in one. She has a degree in photography from Uni Derby, UK and a diploma in pattern making and garment construction from BIFTS, Bangalore.

She has worked with the ethical garments sector for three years.

Maruthi Ananda

Maruthi, is 24 years old and from the Anandapuram urban slum community on Mysore road. She is a teacher and social activist.

She helps manage the day to day running of the cooperative as part of her work with Arthaa.

She hopes to replicate the success of the Arthaa cooperative by starting another cooperative at the slum where she lives. She has completed her secondary schooling before training with Arthaa.

MC Prabhu

Prabhu is a highly skilled designer and craftsman. He brings designs to the production stage and leads the development of new products.

Prabhu comes from a very difficult childhood himself, and is a child social worker as well as his work for Arthaa.

Amaidhi Devaraj

Amaidhi holds the fort in India and is at the center of the activity at the Arthaa cooperative production unit in Bangalore. She is the unit manager.

Amaidhi is a human rights lawyer by education and works to make underprivileged women aware of their rights and entitlements

Bernadette Devaraj

Bernadette is our senior advisor and mentor. She also is responsible for the accounts and financial responsibilities of the cooperative.

She is a retired bank manager and the president of Arivu, a non-profit organisation working with underprivileged women and children.
